A YOUNG boy has died after being struck by a car in Adelaide’s south, despite desperate attempts to save him.

The two-year-old boy was hit on Branksome Terrace, in suburban Dover Gardens, about 8pm yesterday.

A witness told The Advertiser he saw someone performing CPR on the boy.

Police initially said the boy had suffered life-threatening injuries, but later confirmed he died at the scene.

The car, which allegedly struck the boy, was found parked in a nearby driveway.

Police were seen checking the front of the vehicle before entering the house and taking a man away.

The man has been arrested and will face court later today.
