The Tiguan will only be available in three variants initially for 2019.

Volkswagen Australia has confirmed pricing for its simplified range of Tiguan variants for the 2019 model year including a new Wolfsburg edition halo variant.

It follows confirmation of pricing for the seven-seat Tiguan Allspace, and, according to Volkswagen, is adjusted to cater to buyer demand for higher variants.

The Tiguan range will now be all-wheel drive only and feature just one 2.0-litre petrol engine in two states of tune mated solely to a seven-speed DSG auto. Diesels and front-drive variants have been axed.

Starting in October 2018, the current 110TSI range of variants will be dropped, starting the range at $42,490 for the 132TSI Comfortline. That car comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, easy open and close tailgate, ‘dynamic’ LED headlights, 8.0-inch multimedia system with built in sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android auto as well as AEB and three-zone climate control.

The 132TSI Comfortline can be enhanced with $700 optional paint, a $4000 ‘Luxury Package’ adding leather upholstery, electrically adjustable and heated seats as well as a panoramic glass sunroof and a $3200 ‘Sound and Vision package’ which adds premium audio, ambient interior lighting, ‘active info display’ digital dashboard suite and ‘area view’ top-down reversing camera.

Moving up to the $49,490 162TSI Highline, the Tiguan will gain 19-inch alloys, adaptive cruise, rear cross traffic alert (RCTA), ‘traffic jam assist’, dynamic headlights and LED rear lights, electrically adjustable heated front seats with memory function, leather appointed upholstery and a 9.2-inch multimedia system with built-in sat-nav.

The Highline can then be optioned with the $3000 ‘Sound and Vision package’ with digital dash, premium audio and ‘area view’ top-down reversing camera. As well as the $2900 ‘R-Line package’ which includes 20-inch alloys, rear spoiler and a slew of aesthetic exterior and interior touches.

Topping off the range will be the $55,490 Wolfsburg edition which is based on the Highline, comes with the Sound and Vision and R-Line packages as standard as well as the addition of a unique exterior treatment, head up display and rear window tint.

Volkswagen say the base 110TSI range will return in some form the future.
