Mercedes EQC 2019 teased ahead of official revealMercedes EQC 2019 teased ahead of official reveal

The teaser video also confirms the EV SUV will be revealed on September 4

Mercedes has given us our first-ever look at what might just be its most important incoming model; the all-electric EQC SUV.

It’s fleeting, sure, and it reveals only the grille and headlight configuration, but there’s still much to be sleuthed about the EQC ahead of its offical unveiling on September 4 in Stockholm.

The first model in Merc’s incoming EQ range of electric vehicles, the EQC is also the first all-electric offering from the German brand. And while we’ve seen plenty of camouflaged prototypes doing the rounds (including recent testing on Germany’s impressive Black Forest road by former racing driver Susie Wolff), this is our first camouflage-free glimpse.

The image shows a mostly conventional-looking front end, only with a LED DRL strip that not only wraps around the headlight, but meets a single, unbroken line of light that stretches the length width of the bonnet above the grille – not massively unlike the Concept EQ car, then. And it shows a bonnet so deeply contoured it’s like it has been attacked with an ice-cream scoop.

Mercedes is yet to confirm detailed specs for the EQC, but the Concept EQ does provide some hints. That car was powered by twin motors, with a scaleable power delivery (dependedn on battery configuration) of up to 300kW and 700Nm. It delivered a claimed range of up to 500km, and was offered with cordless charging.

The new EQC image, released on Twitter, was accompanied by a message claiming: “Mercedes-Benz is flipping the switch: On September 4th, we will present our first all-electric Mercedes-Benz model of our new product and technology brand EQ. Here’s the very first design detail. Stay tuned!”
