The Hyundai i30 N Line features a revised suspension set-up, upgraded brakes and sportier engine response.

Hyundai has warmed up the i30 small car with a new N Line variant, which borrows elements from the South Korean brand’s i30 N performance flagship.

Sporting new exterior and interior design features and enhanced driving dynamics, the N Line has been released across Europe, though an Australian arrival is yet to be determined.

Hyundai’s local has not yet confirmed if the car will be imported to Australia, but Hyundai Motor Company Australia (HMCA) general manager of external affairs Bill Thomas revealed that it is indeed interested in the prospect.

“We’re looking at it,” he said. “We’re just trying to work everything out. Nothing’s confirmed, but we’re very interested in it.

“i30 will be the first (N Line vehicle) if we decide to go down that road.”

Over and above the standard i30 small car, the N Line brings new exterior and interior styling elements, as well as improved engine response, and upgraded suspension, brakes and tyres.

Standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres are equipped to aid in handling, and 16-inch front discs improve braking performance.

While Hyundai Motor has said indicated improvements to the suspension and engine response have been made, it has not yet revealed what those changes are.

In overseas markets, the i30 N Line is motivated by a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, but as that engine is not sold here, an Australian version would hopefully come with the 1.6-litre unit used in the current SR.

That engine delivers 150kW of power and 265Nm of torque, which is transferred to the road by either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
